Would you Rather with Paul Aron

Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Paul Aron is the latest on the 2024 grid to take on our tough questions in a round of Would you Rather?
The Estonian gives his take on the age-old questions like home or Monaco GP win, weights or cardio and details why overtaking in Formula 2 can feel more rewarding.
WEIGHTS OR CARDIO?
“Weights. Yeah, I’m in the gym a lot. I’m probably there the most on the grid because I look the biggest.”
HOME OR MONACO GP WIN?
“To be honest, I don’t know. It’s obviously nice to win a home race but Monaco is the most famous one and I want to win the Monaco Grand Prix.”
UNDERSTEER OR OVERSTEER?
“Oversteer. I think oversteer is quicker and my personal preference.”
GIVE UP YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL FOR LIFE OR EAT IT EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR A YEAR?
“I would eat it every single day and I’d end up fat after that! There’s a burger place in Estonia and I think it’s ranked like third or fourth best in Europe and I’ve honestly never had a burger anywhere near as good as that one from there. I could eat that every day.”
HANDS FOR FEET OR FEET FOR HANDS?
“Hands for feet. I could probably do a lot more that way around.”
FIRST TO ARRIVE OR LAST TO ARRIVE?
“Last to arrive. Always fashionably late. I don’t enjoy being late but I always like being just on time. It’s like a buzz you get when you know you have to rush to be somewhere on time. When there’s too much spare time to get somewhere it feels really lazy like you have too much spare time and you’re waiting around.”
TOO HOT OR TOO COLD?
“Too cold. I enjoy the heat but I’m used to being too cold from being in Estonia and I would rather have to wear a lot of clothes to keep warm than to be really hot in a hot place and not have any way of keeping cool.”

RACE SUIT THAT’S TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL?
“Race in a suit that’s too big because it’s more comfortable but looking back through photos from my career, I’ve always raced in suits that have been too small. This year I got it right though now I’m not growing as much anymore. At the start of the year you’re meant to take measurements and the last few years I’ve just taken the measurements from the season before and then said where the suit needs to be bigger. Every time you feel like something is a little off, so I’ve just started sorting out the details one by one.”
ROCK OR HIP HOP?
“I don’t know, it depends on what type of rock. Rock is up there definitely but hip hop is a huge category. To be honest I listen to such a wide variety of music and it really depends on my mood.”
KARAOKE OR DANCE OFF?
“I can’t dance so I’d go for karaoke. I don’t even have a go-to song, just songs from the 2000s I guess.”
WIN THE INDY 500 OR THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS?
“That’s a good question. I’ve never really thought about that… I think the race itself, I’d enjoy the 24 Hours more than the Indy 500, so probably the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
TELEPORTATION OR READ PEOPLE’S MINDS?
“Teleport places. I can’t be bothered to know what other people are thinking, my mind is already too complicated.”

OPTION PRIME OR PRIME OPTION?
“Depends on the race weekend. I think it’s always nice to start on the Option. As a driver, you never want to start on the Prime because there’s a chance that if someone’s around you on the Option, then it can be more difficult. Driver preference is Option Prime.”
SHOEY OUT OF YOUR BOSS’ SHOE OR YOUR TEAMMATE’S SHOE?
“Boss’ shoe. Maybe if I drink out of the boss’ shoe there’s something to gain from that, maybe a little bit of respect.”
LATE BRAKING DIVE DOWN THE INSIDE OR SWEEP AROUND THE OUTSIDE?
“I don’t know. I’ve started to enjoy the late-braking dives to the inside so I’m going for that one. I think throughout your junior career, there’s more around-the-outside moves than down the inside because in the lower categories, you’re not saving as much in braking, so it’s hard to dive late. But in F2, the braking distances are longer so you have more opportunities to send it from far back and it’s quite a nice feeling if you do it.”
WIN FROM POLE OR WIN FROM LAST?
“Win from last on the grid. I do want the Pole and the ideal scenario is to get Pole, drop to the back for whatever reason and then win it anyway.”
